Full time wholesale butcher vacancy
A fantastic opportunity has arisen within Etherington’s wholesale butchery department. The role would suit an enthusiastic individual already in the industry, looking to realise their potential and further a career as a butcher. The successful candidate would benefit from continued training and structured learning.
Working in a close-knit team in our purpose build meat cutting factory, you will have butchery experience, possess good knife skills and be able to demonstrate core butcher techniques, including: boning, jointing and portion control.
Duties will include (but not be limited to): –
- Butchery of all common types of meat (beef, lamb, pork, chicken) in carcass and part processed form into products for wholesale.
- Producing processed products (mince, burgers, sausages) using butchery machinery.
- Hygiene: adhering to strict hygiene procedures to ensure the facility is maintained to the highest standards.
- Associated butchery tasks including, receiving stock into the facility and boxing & labelling customer orders.
The role is demanding, and the candidate will need to be physically fit. Working a yearly average of 42hrs over 6 days a week paid by the hour enhancements for unsociable hours between 10pm – 6am 4.00am/ 6.00am start finishing at 2.30pm or when work is complete, Saturday 9 am to finish.
The successful candidate must have a strong work ethic, demonstrate care and attention to detail in their work and must be flexible in their approach to the role and hours of work.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential
Good secondary education
Food Hygiene Certificates
HACCP
Proven Track Record of Experience
Experience of a largescale meat cutting operation
Knowledgeable about different meat cuts
Good Interpersonal kills
Good sense of humour
Clean and smart appearance.
Desirable
Butchery Qualification NVQ or City & Guides
