The First Ever Cornish Pasty Week!

This Sunday sees the start of the first ever Cornish Pasty Week organised by the Cornish Pasty Association. Until the 3rd of March the county will be celebrating its most iconic food with a range of activities, culminating in the ‘Oggy Oscars’ – the seventh-annual World Pasty Championships at the Eden Project, near St Austell.

Etherington’s have been making Cornish pasties at our award-winning Farm Shop since it opened in 2012 and now produce over 1,000 a day – all handmade by our beautiful bunch of Crimpetts. Made to a secret recipe that dates back almost a century, each pasty includes the classic ingredients; beef skirt, swede (or as the Cornish call it, turnip!) potato and onion – all encased in a perfect golden pastry and crimped on the side to create the distinctive ‘D’ Shape.

To celebrate Pasty Week, we are inviting our customers to design their own pasty filling! So, if you’re looking to swap the pepper for paprika, (or even pilchards), swede for sweetcorn, or beef for beetroot, we’re welcoming all flavour ideas!  We will pick a winner* and a box of your flavour design (20medium pasties) will be delivered to your door!

We are also embracing the week’s hashtag #PastySmile, by creating a giant pasty smile a giant pasty that we will measure over 70cm long! Keep your eyes peeled for the pictures!

*Competition ends on the 3rd March 2018, a winner will be picked and announced by the 5th March (St Piran’s Day) and pasties will be delivered to any UK Mainland address within two weeks of the competition end date.
